Only a few more weeks now before we make the club and surrounds(all buoys in and jetty moved to safe mooring and lots more) ready for winter. We have not organised an October Family Day but I hope to be at the club each Sunday in Oct so please let me know if you require any help or want to use a club dinghy.
We have begun excavations to repair the wall by the pontoon and also made an accessible path from the slipway so there are some hazards until we finish the work but we will be have much safer access to the pontoon.
Winter opening – We have operated limited winter access to the clubhouse over the last three years, but in all honesty the take up has been minimal and there have been difficulties regarding water supply, security and access to ribs.
Over the winter, the clubhouse is used to keep Sails/foils from the club dinghies dry and mouse proof and to undertake maintenance to keep everything up to scratch. Services at the clubhouse are turned off and frost proofed.
With this in mind there is no restriction on use of the club and lake – conditions permitting- through the winter months.
The main concern is that a responsible and suitably qualified person be nominated on any sailing day to ensure safe operation ashore and afloat, and to correctly close down the building at the end of the day.
